Family: Ikuko & Yui

I did a shoot for yui and her family when she was one. A year and half went by, Yui has become so big now. This shoot was meant to celebrate Yui turning three soon. If I remember what Ikuko told me correctly, Japanese girls would have to wear kimonos when they turned 3 and 7 years old and went to a shrine to celebrate.

On the day of the shoot, Yui was so excited about putting on the kimono, and insisted to wear it before her mommy did. 30 minutes passed, Yui wanted to take it off because she felt it was too tight on her; hence the crying photos you see when you scroll down the page. =) Unfortunately I did not get to photograph Ikuko and Yui both in their kimonos, but anyhow it was a great experience witnessing another country’s culture and tradition, and even being able to take part in it.ikuko&yui-1w
