Pre-Wedding: Shirley + Archie

I have turned down a number of jobs this year because of clients’ choices of outfits. When new clients approach me for pre-wedding photo shooting service, their outfit choices would be one of the very first few things I ask. If they chose to shoot in ALL gowns, I would say no. I will tell you WHY NOT in just a minute.

Shirley’s one of my best friends. When she came to me and said she wanted me to do the pre-wedding shooting for her, I asked about her outfits. She told me that she wanted to do it in ALL gowns. I told her honestly that I didn’t think I would be the right choice for her because I was not interested in shooting all gowns, BUT I added that only under one condition would I do it, which was to let me pick the gowns. She happily said yes. Guess what? I talked her out of wearing all gowns at last. Haha..

The roses in the birdcage were the flowers that Archie used to propose to Shirley (Yea, Archie didn’t “officially” propose until a week before the shooting.). They had bought a punch of pink roses for the shooting, but I eventually chose the withering red roses because of the little story behind them.
So about the ribbons? there’s actually no story about them just I thought it would be good to add a bit of colors to the photos. LOL.

Congratulations once again Shirley and Archie!

Okay, so WHY NOT all gowns? First of all, I think it could be pretty tacky if you picked the wrong gown for the wrong location. I understand that girl might want to have more photos with her in a WEDDING GOWN (that’s why I am okay to photo shoot clients in them), but why other evening gowns? Girls don’t necessarily look prettier in evening gowns. They should wear what fit them the best and what they are most comfortably in, so that they could perform and show the lens who they really are. Plus pre-wedding photos are supposed to record the happy and sweet moments that you share with your future partner, they are about YOU and YOUR PARTNER, not about your gowns and body shape. Please enlighten me. I just don’t understand.
